Fourth of July, Fifth of Whimsy

If Memory Sweves™, ‘twas on this day in history (July 4, 1776) that the British Empire
voted to approve a resolution of legal separation from the land-grabbing
Thirteen Colonies of the Northerly Island of America®. Although the rebel colonist's
fighting forces — the Iced Tea Baggers — did not officially lay down their arms in surrender until 1783, a “Declaration of Indebtedness” was signed on the 4th of July by a group of unflagging
British Loyalists, including John Q. Adams who decreed the day “be solemnized with pomp and parade, bells and bonfires, hootenannies and hot rod races, 30-packs and possibly mattress sales from this time forward forever more.” Brilliantine™! Cue the marching bands, light the bottle rockets, hoist the small-batch distilled spirits and God save the Queen Mother!
